Nursery in practice

International conference "Nursery - Manage The Transformation" was initiated by the Polish Nurserymen Association, which is assisted in its implementation by the Green Promotion Agency (Agencja Promocji Zieleni).

Members of the association decided to organize for the fifth time a meeting integrating the nursery industry, solving current problems related to production and helping to prepare for the upcoming changes - technological, economic and social.

The Polish Nurserymen Association - the largest organization associating domestic producers of trees, shrubs, climbers and perennials - for over 30 years has been actively working towards improving the quality of nursery production, popularizing knowledge and developing the industry.

It is a member of an international organization – the European Nurserymen Association (ENA) and the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH).
It cooperates with many national institutions at the state and industry level, including the Polish Association of Garden Centers (PSCO), the Landscape Architecture Association (SAK) and the State Plant Protection and Seed Inspection (PIORiN).
In 2021-23, he participated in the project „More Green Cities for Europe”, an EU campaign aimed at increasing the use of plants in urban areas - for the good of the community, the environment, the climate, as well as for the economic development of agglomerations (project website: https://pl.thegreencities.eu/). In Poland, the program was called the Green City of Europe.

Polish nurseries are a dynamically developing sector of agriculture. The number of farms exceeds 3,200, and the area designated for nursery production of ornamental plants is over 7,000 ha, which places Poland in 4th place in Europe. At the same time, contemporary market challenges require continuous improvement of the level of knowledge and competence in the field of production, organization and sales.

The issues discussed during the conference create four thematic blocks:
  • assortment - concerning new assortments and taxa that deserve popularization;
  • production - talking about the arcana of cultivation, especially in the context of the following changes related to environmental protection and sustainable production;
  • sales and marketing - focusing on aspects of profitability and sales support activities. The speakers will be primarily Polish renowned experts and practitioners who will present the latest achievements and specific and practical solutions to the meeting participants;
  • soft skils and management - focused on the development of personal and leadership competencies essential for effectively managing a modern nursery business. Presentations in this block will help participants improve communication, team-building, and decision-making in a changing market environment, as well as shape a leadership mindset capable of managing transformation and inspiring others.

The conference is addressed to all nurserymen and companies operating in this industry in the country. It is an excellent platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience, as well as a place to acquire new business contacts and clients and to strengthen cooperation.

By organizing the conference, the Polish Nurserymen Association meets the need for professional development, systematizing information, reaching out to new innovations in the field of innovative solutions necessary for the development of nursery farms.
